Stralivigno Rewrites Its History: More Than 1,600 Participants for a Record-Breaking Weekend
Hrochová and Kovář Shine on the Course; Paltrinieri, Quadarella, Frigo, Lotti and Fabbri Inspire from the Stage: Livigno Celebrates the Culture of Endurance.
Livigno, July 19 – With more than 1,600 registered participants, Stralivigno 2026 rewrote its own history, shattering every previous participation record and reaffirming its status as an event capable of attracting an ever-growing and increasingly international running community to Livigno. Impressive as they are, the numbers tell only part of the story of an intense three-day event, where the race remained at the heart of a programme filled with experiences, inspiring talks and opportunities to connect. Once again, the event highlighted the deep bond between Livigno and the culture of endurance.
While Saturday reached its climax with the 21-kilometre race, the weekend had already begun to take shape in the preceding days thanks to the Stralivigno Village and a series of Sport Talks hosted in front of AQ1816, the Olympic Preparation Centre currently welcoming some of the world’s leading athletes as they fine-tune their preparations for this summer’s major cycling, athletics and swimming events.
Here, athletes, running enthusiasts and visitors alike had the opportunity to engage with some of Italy’s most celebrated sporting figures in conversations that went far beyond competition, exploring the value of preparation, attention to detail and the relentless pursuit of one’s own limits.
Among the most popular sessions were those featuring Lorenzo Lotti, Italian 100 km champion, and sports nutritionist Iader Fabbri, who shared practical advice and proven strategies to help runners optimise their performance, from training methods to nutrition. A more inspirational perspective came from several of Italy’s top swimmers, currently training in Livigno ahead of the European Championships. Olympic champion and generational icon Gregorio Paltrinieri was joined by middle-distance star Simona Quadarella and Manuel Frigo, a key member of the Italian men’s relay team that has claimed four World Championship medals and two Olympic medals in recent years. In front of AQ1816, the athletes drew fascinating parallels between the swimming pool and mountain trails, explaining how peak performance is always built on the same foundations: method, sacrifice and the determination to push beyond one’s limits. The programme was further enriched by a packed schedule of side events organised by AQ1816, including social runs, power mobility sessions and group warm-ups, all of which contributed to the vibrant atmosphere throughout the weekend.
“Since 2000, Stralivigno has continued to grow, reflecting the identity of our destination more than ever,” said Luca Moretti, President of Livigno Next. “Welcoming more than 1,600 participants is an extremely significant milestone and confirms Livigno’s ability to connect with an international community that seeks far more than competition through sport—it seeks a destination. Here, professional athletes and passionate amateurs share the same spaces, embrace the same culture of performance and enjoy an experience that can truly be tailored to their ambitions and goals.”
As always, however, it was the race itself that ultimately took centre stage. Winding through Livigno’s historic centre, alongside the Spöl stream, across scenic mountain trails and through the iconic Tee huts, the Stralivigno course once again immersed runners in the very heart of the territory, combining technical challenge, breathtaking landscapes and authentic Alpine identity into a unique racing experience.
The men’s race was won by Jáchym Kovář (Czech Republic, Mizuno Team, born in 1996), who crossed the finish line in 1:16:23 ahead of Luca Cantoni and Michele Massetti. In the women’s race, victory went to Teresa Hrochová (Czech Republic, Puma Team, born in 1996), who claimed the title in 1:25:11, finishing ahead of Vittoria Di Dato and Tereza Rudolfova.
Stralivigno 2026 leaves behind far more than a new participation record. It confirms Livigno’s ability to create authentic, increasingly personalised sporting experiences, where every athlete—regardless of ability—can enjoy the mountains in a way that reflects their own ambitions. That is the true strength of Stralivigno today: not simply a race, but the expression of a destination that continues to evolve alongside its sporting community.
The journey continues, with Stralivigno already setting its sights on the next chapter. Runners can now mark their calendars for the 2027 edition, which will take place on 17 July 2027.
