It is no coincidence, then, that more than 1,300 runners have already registered for the 21 km race and the relay, with the number expected to rise further in the final days before the event. Participation has already reached a record high, marking the largest edition in the event’s history. This milestone reflects the growing appeal of a weekend that celebrates both the local community and Livigno’s enduring passion for endurance sports, while further confirming the destination’s prominent position on the international sporting stage.

The much-loved and now iconic course starts at Aquagranda, home to AQ1816 and the Olympic Preparation Centre. As the beating heart of Livigno’s sporting life and a year-round training base for elite athletes, national teams and sports federations from around the world, it represents far more than just the race’s starting point. It is a symbolic place to begin a course inspired by the same sporting culture that defines Livigno itself.

The opening kilometres wind through the centre of Livigno, passing its shopping streets, cafés and restaurants. This is the liveliest section of the course, where spectators line the route, cheering on the runners and creating an atmosphere of excitement before the race gradually takes on a different character.

Leaving the town centre behind, the course joins the cycle path and opens onto the valley. The sound of the crowd gives way to the steady rhythm of running as the route follows the valley floor, runs alongside the Spöl River and offers sweeping views of Livigno’s spectacular alpine landscape. It is the very same trail where many world-class athletes train during their altitude camps in Livigno—a place immersed in nature, where sport is part of everyday life.

Upon reaching the Fior di Bosco area, the terrain changes once again. The route transitions onto unpaved trails, with climbs and a series of rolling ups and downs that define the most demanding section of Stralivigno. Here, the mountain tests each runner’s endurance, pacing and ability to manage the effort.

Around the halfway point comes one of the race’s key moments: the relay changeover for team participants, while individual runners embark on the second half of their challenge.

After approximately one kilometre on the cycle path, the course returns to the trail and begins to climb again, with a demanding yet runnable ascent. This leads runners to one of the most spectacular sections of the race: the Tee Trail, which traverses the mountainside above the village, offering breathtaking panoramic views across the entire Livigno valley.

The tee—traditional rural huts that are distinctive to the Livigno valley—form an integral part of the course, strengthening the connection between the race and the destination’s rich heritage. It is here that Stralivigno truly showcases its unique character: a race that combines technical challenge with an authentic immersion in the landscapes and traditions of the valley. From this point, the route descends back towards Aquagranda, where the 21 km course, with 450 metres of elevation gain, comes full circle, finishing where the journey began.

The milestone of more than 1,300 registered participants is about far more than numbers. It reflects the enthusiasm of the running community for an event that, since its first edition in 2000, has continued to grow while staying true to its roots and its close connection with the surrounding landscape. The weekend will begin on Friday, when the Stralivigno Village, located next to Aquagranda, becomes the heart of the Stralivigno experience, welcoming athletes, supporters and running enthusiasts. The programme will also feature a series of talks dedicated to the world of running and endurance sports, with professional athletes and experts sharing insights on training, nutrition, performance and race preparation.

The event will conclude on Sunday, 19 July, with the MiniStralivigno, a race dedicated to young runners held on Aquagranda’s athletics track. The day will be a celebration of sport and community, open to all children, and will end with a Pizza Party and the official prize-giving ceremony.

Livigno, 11 marzo 2026 – Registration officially opens today for the 26th edition of Stralivigno, the iconic summer half marathon that once again transforms Livigno into a destination of energy, togetherness and sporting challenge. The event will take place on Saturday, 18 July, with the 21 km race starting at 4:00 p.m., taking runners along scenic trails and panoramic routes that showcase the stunning alpine landscape of a destination where sport has always been an essential part of its identity, 365 days a year.

Stralivigno is much more than a race: it is a meeting point for amateur and professional runners alike, bringing together those who run for the love of the sport and those who embrace the challenge with a competitive mindset. Registration opens today with a special early-bird entry fee of €35 for the individual race and €45 per team for the relay, valid until 20 March. Online registration will remain open until 15 July 2026.
